Travel guides quote prices with a confidence the underlying sources rarely support. Building this one meant checking every figure against the operator's own page, and the striking thing wasn't how many we found. It was how many we couldn't. Roughly a third of the prices in circulation for this region trace back to a booking-engine snapshot, a review from two years ago, or a page whose copyright notice says 2019.
So this is two lists. What's verified, and what isn't.
Free
Worth saying first, because the Blue Mountains' headline attractions mostly cost nothing.
- Echo Point and the Three Sisters: free, always open, sealed path to two lookout levels.
- Govetts Leap, Evans Lookout, Sublime Point, Anvil Rock, Cahills Lookout: free.
- Every walking track in the national park except where a precinct charges vehicle entry.
- Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah: free entry, free parking, and it's the highest botanic garden in the country.
- Hassans Walls, Lithgow: free, and the highest lookout in the region.
- The Mount Victoria heritage trail: free, nine sites, self-guided.

A note on the train fare. We give a range rather than a number on purpose. NSW rail fares are banded by distance and indexed annually, and there is a superseded $8.86 figure for this band still sitting on a government page. Any guide quoting one exact fare for Central–Katoomba is quoting something they haven't checked this year.

Canyoning, abseiling and the climbing combo from Blue Mountains Adventure Company; the last two rows from the Australian School of Mountaineering. Four of BMAC's harder canyons (Gobsmacker, Whungee Wheengee, Serendipity) and its mountaineering training day currently show a blank price field, so they aren't listed here.

Gardens, for when the road reopens
Mount Wilson's private gardens are all behind a road closure until roughly July 2027. Prices for the day that changes: Windyridge $10 adult / $3 child, open daily from 8am, tea and biscuits included. Bebeah $10, daily 10am–5pm. Breenhold $15, early April to end May. Merry Garth $10, April weekends. Yengo is by appointment only.
Now the interesting list: what nobody publishes
These are the figures that exist in circulation but not on any source we'd stand behind. Each is a small lesson in how travel pricing information decays.
Trolley Tours: the website has become something else
This is the strangest finding of the whole project. trolleytours.com.au no longer functions as the trolley operator's site. The homepage is now a generic content farm, with articles about daycare subsidies, BMW parts and skip-bin hire, under the banner "TROLLY TOURS – Finding Experiences".
A handful of legacy pages still resolve and still describe the Katoomba trolley service, its 29 stops and its departure point at the Carrington Hotel. None of them shows a price, and the footer reads "Copyright © 2019". Third-party sources quote fares between $15 and $83 and disagree with each other, which is its own answer.
We can't tell you whether Trolley Tours is running in 2026, and we're not going to imply it is. If you want to find out, phone rather than click.
Accommodation: every single rate
There isn't one nightly rate on this site, and that's deliberate. Almost every figure available for Blue Mountains accommodation comes from a booking aggregator, which means it is a live yield-managed number that was true for one search, on one date, for one length of stay. Publishing it as "from $200 a night" would be publishing fiction with a decimal point.
What we'll say instead: the heritage properties (Lilianfels, the Hydro Majestic, Echoes) sit at the top; there's a solid mid-range in Blackheath and Katoomba; Jemby-Rinjah's eco-cabins are the self-contained pick; and the YHA in Katoomba's restored 1930s cabaret building is the budget answer. Check the property's own site.
Echo Point parking
Council pay-to-park, and the sources disagree. The council's own page implies something in the order of $2.50 to $3 per fifteen minutes; a widely-copied blog says a flat $4 an hour. We defer to the council and quote neither.
Scenic World's other passes
The adult and child Discovery Pass prices are on the operator's ticket page. The family bundle and the add-on passes (the guided tour, the combo, the rooftop experience) aren't, at least not anywhere we could reach. They exist; their prices aren't public in a form we can cite.
Megalong Valley horse riding
The tariff page we found was still marked "effective from 1st March 2009." That's not a price, it's an artefact. Ring them.
Explorer Bus concessions and multi-day passes
The four passes above are confirmed on the operator's own site. No concession fare is listed anywhere on it, and although multi-day passes are widely referred to elsewhere, we couldn't confirm one exists from the operator. Note also that the Scenic World combo is called the Lyrebird Pass, not the "Explore More Pass" that appears in various guides.
Jenolan Caves
Pre-closure prices are still circulating: around $42 for a single show cave, $66 for two, $130 for adventure caving. The caves have been shut since April 2024 and won't reopen before 2027. Those numbers describe a thing you cannot buy.
Day tours from Sydney
Several operators run them and we can name them; none published a price and inclusions in a form we could verify. Prices for a ten-hour coach day out of Sydney vary enormously by what's bundled in, so compare on inclusions rather than headline rate.
Two addresses, for what it's worth
Not prices, but the same problem. Leura Gourmet Cafe & Deli is at 159 Leura Mall. The "171" you'll see comes from menu-scraper sites. Bakehouse on Wentworth's Leura branch is at 208 Leura Mall; the "226 Macquarie Road" figure in circulation is a Springwood address that an aggregator mislabelled. There is also a genuine Blackheath branch at 105 Wentworth Street.
What a day actually costs
Three honest budgets for two adults, excluding accommodation and dinner.
The free day, $0
Train up (fare aside), Echo Point, the clifftop walk to Katoomba Falls, down the Giant Stairway and back, Leura Cascades, browse Leura Mall. Bring lunch. This is a genuinely excellent day and it costs nothing at the gate.
The classic, ~$128 + fares
Two Scenic World Discovery Passes at $64. Everything else on foot. Add the Explorer Bus at $55 each if you'd rather not walk between lookouts.
The big one, ~$690
Two on a Grand Canyon abseiling day at $345 each. Eight and a half hours, no experience needed, and the thing people remember years later.
The pattern is worth naming: the expensive things here are experiences, not entry fees. The landscape itself is free, and stays free, which is not true of most destinations that photograph this well.
